That is why I created the bestselling author guide. Just follow along and you’ll be on your way to claiming the coveted title of:
Today there are a handful of authors who write simply just for the love of writing a book.
Most of us, though, are in a separate category. We have a story, a mission, or a desire for our carefully crafted words to be read by the masses, leading us towards the day when we are raking in millions, from product sales, coaching programs, and royalties.
In the literary world, as an author, nothing carries the same validation, as hitting the best-seller lists
Becoming a best seller is one of the most universally recognized achievements.
Even the most humble scribes don’t hesitate to add “New York Times best-selling author” to their titles once they’ve reached that coveted status.
Becoming a best-selling author is just as much about the book as it is about marketing and promotion. Myself coming from a digital marketing background and being a failure in my high school english class knew that in order for me to have my chance I’d have to rely on my street smarts and stick to the marketing aspect.
However some authors don’t want to be the marketing wizard behind the launch of their book.
It can be scary to ask people to buy your book for the first time. What if they say no?
For myself, having the best selling author title outweighed the fear of asking people to buy my book.
However with that in mind, wouldn’t you like an easier way to ensure your ability to get your book to best seller without asking thousands and thousands of people individually?
If you want the best shot at becoming a best selling author
Follow these Four steps, and you’ll be a certified bestselling author in no time.
Step 1: Write The Book people want to read!
Rule No. 1 for becoming a best seller: know your prospective audience and write with them in mind.
“If you’re writing a book on real estate investing for soon to become millionaires you need to be thinking, ‘What is going to resonate with those real estate investors?
Step 2: Promote Before you publish!
When self-publishing often, the best plan is to consider building an audience of people interested by getting them to engage in the development of the book.
Share Blurbs or screenshots, or ask them for help and input with the designing of the cover.
The beautiful thing about self publishing is that you don’t have to wait to release your book. When your book is completed it is ready to publish, so it is critical to have a pipeline of people interested for that release date.
So if you know when you’re launching your book be sure to book lots of speaking dates, podcast, and newsletters.
Step 3: Hire experts to help
Despite solo efforts to reach readers through email lists and speaking engagements, when it comes to generating enough sales to hit the bestsellers list, Hiring an expert that as done it multiple times before might be in your best interest.
Step 4: Have a Road Map
A GPS only works when it knows where it is, and where it is going. You should do the same thing, You’re goal is to become a bestselling author, if you are just writing a book and publishing it, and you’re not following the right steps it is very unlikely you’ll hit the best-seller list.
Follow the steps in my Step by Step Guide to becoming a best selling author and you’ll have a clear map that has helped many others claim the victorious title of “Number 1 Best selling Author”
Everything will be covered from uploading your self published book, to category research and selection, and the launch day formula.
P.S. Don’t worry about being a best seller
Typically books that hit the best-sellers lists do it within the first 48 hours to two weeks of release for two reasons:
One is that all of your pre sales from months of marketing in advance come in that first week;
Secondly, it’s much easier to get media attention around new books vs old books.
But truthfully I don’t think most writers should care about the best-sellers list if they are doing it to make more money from book sales.
The sales will trickle. However the title of best-selling-author comes with many perks. From more speaking gigs where you can promote and sell your products to gaining massive, instant credibility in your field.
So, again, it’s better to be concerned about the long-term potential versus working about the upfront sales.
